FAQs

Q1: What if I am unable to teach at the last minute?

A1: You must inform your CET admin to arrange the alternate lecturer before the session starts. After the session starts, no changes can be made to the arranged class and there will be an impact to student comms and their related in-session assessment and attendance records.

Q2: Will I get paid if I am standing in for a lecturer on MC?

A2: All lecturers assigned to classes (stand-in or not) will have to confirm their lecturer attendance during attendance marking using the lecturer portal. If you have a lecturer user account in STEP, your teaching hours will be automatically recorded and submitted to Workday/HR for payment by your timesheet managers. Do ensure that you can see your session in your lecturer portal prior to the class, if not, please inform your CET admin to arrange. If you do not see the session, it means the session was not assigned to you and will impact your teaching hours recorded.

Q3: When I need to click “Yes” for “Claim via Workday” in STEP, do I still need to edit timesheets in Workday?

A3: Once you click yes, the system auto-populates your teaching hour claims in an EIB report for your IHL’s CET team to share with your HR department. You only need to confirm in Workday when the details are synced from STEP to Workday.

Q4: Do I need to click to confirm lecturer attendance in order that the attendance can be recognised?

A4: You must confirm lecturer attendance to be log the training hours and it is critical to do so as it’s linked to Workday claims as well as the tracking of teaching hours. It is unlikely that you may miss it, as there is a pop-up message to remind you to confirm lecturer attendance when you submit students’ attendance.
